A little boy was overheard praying: "Lord, if you can't make me a better boy, don't worry about it... I'm having a real good time like I am."
"OUR children are OUR future - Florida Commissioner of Agriculture Adam H. Putnam announced on 10/09/15 that 15.5 million meals were provided during the summer to Florida children in need through the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services’ Summer Break Spot program. The department partners with more than 3,800 school and community organizations sites statewide to offer free, nutritious meals, recreational fun and educational activities for children 18 and under during the summer months.
The 15.5 million meals served this summer is a nearly 15 percent increase from the previous summer and a nearly 42 percent increase since the department took over of the program in 2012.
“More than 2.8 million Florida children rely on school breakfast and lunch throughout the school year, and we’ve worked to help bridge this nutritional gap when school is out,” said Commissioner Adam H. Putnam. “Since our department took over responsibility for this program, we are seeing more and more kids gain access to healthy meals during the summer. The nearly 16 million meals served to children this summer gives them the fuel they need to excel in the classroom.”
Commissioner Putnam is dedicated to enhancing children’s nutrition and ensuring that resources are targeted to areas where they are most needed. Interested organizations can visit SummerFoodFlorida.org for more information. BD KENNELS is proud to have him in our government!
Summer BreakSpot is part of the national Summer Food Service Program, a federally funded program operated by the United States Department of Agriculture and administered in Florida by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.

You’ve probably heard that dogs’ mouths are “cleaner” than ours and that their kisses might even have some kind of magical, antibacterial properties. This is the perfect example of a myth perpetuated for far too long! The truth is that there are plenty of bacteria living in a dog’s mouth; when that dog licks your face, you could be exposing yourself to some dangerous ones.
